Portraits was taken at Joshua Tree National Park in California as a way to treat nature the same way we do
human lives. With the fear that the Joshua trees will be eliminated from this region the process of individually
commemorating each tree is a way of preserving what was present at the time. The population of these trees is
expected to plummet by the end of the 21st century by 90 percent from the effects of climate change. There is
little chance that this species will extend to more favorable climates, therefore it is only a matter of time before they
cease to exist.
